BIMContentManager is comprised of two separate yet related applications, BIMContentManager Desktop and BIMContentManager Web. BIMContentManager Desktop is a content management solution for Autodesk Revit that allows you to manage Revit family (RFA) files on your computer and optionally publish them to BIMContentManager Web for sharing and collaboration.

  • publish your families to the internet for communal sharing
  • simultaneous grid and thumbnail dualview
  • dynamic resizing of thumbnails using a slider
  • find families using instantaneous "search as you type" methods
  • assign and edit family properties
  • sort families by any number of fields, including Supplier, Uniformat, Masterformat, Path, Filename, Cost, etc.
  • associate custom images to families
  • associate multiple URLs to families
  • create URL 'thumbshots'
  • link Suppliers products to families
  • create local Suppliers list

CADALYST

On May 13 and 14, I attended a two-day pre-AIA convention conference in Boston titled "Changing the World: Harnessing BIM Technology and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) for Sustainable Design." While a wordy title, it does give an accurate idea of the scope of the seminar. Technology was at the fore of all discussion and it became clear throughout the conference that, although many architects in attendance were new to BIM, they as a profession are finally ready to fully embrace this practice-revolutionizing technology.
